Skin and Bones – Live from Capitol Theatre – Chords and Lyrics

January 4th, 2018

Last month I posted live video of  ‘Corridors’ (‘All We Have Become’) from my set opening for Glen Hansard at the Capitol Theatre in July. At the end of the night I was handed a multi camera live recording of my set on a flash drive. Here’s ‘Skin and Bones’.

Later on Glen called me back out for the second last song of the evening.

‘Skin and Bones’ is on my 2010 album, ‘Brother, the Fight is Fixed’.

Skin and Bones  –

Capo 3:

Verses: G C

Chorus : Am C G C

I woke up,
With “go home” written backwards on my cheek.
Feeling like a cryptic crossword clue,
Like a jigsaw’s missing piece.

Staying up all night,
Isn’t going to make it last.
Worrying about it,
Isn’t going to bring it back.
I feel like i am carrying,
Water in my hands
If i could believe you,
Then I’d have a glass,

But i can’t.

We are just skin and bones and blood,
Without love, without love.

I want to rest, where the trees grow tall,
Enough for men to feel small,
Enough, to think straight.
I want to say every kind word I’ve been thinking of
I want to do it without fear,
I want to do it without shame,
I want to do it,
Every single day.

We are just skin and bones,
And blood without love,
Without love.
( I hope my God has a plan for me , for me,
I hope my God has a plan for me, for me.)
We are just skin and bones,
And blood without love,
Without love.
